Young Dragons Win Final at PBC Tens

22 February 2010

Sunnybanks has won the Plate Final of the Palm Beach Currumbin Tens with a team of players drawn predominantly from their 2010 Colts.

The team containing two 17 year old players and a number of 18 year old players defeated Logan 19 - 5 in the Quarter Finals, the Graduates 31 - 0 in the Semi Final before outlasting Marist Samoa 43 - 17 in the Final. The players showed steady improvement across the weekend and played an attractive and controlled style of Rugby. That this was done against players who were older and more physically mature was a credit to them and their coaches Roy Saunders and Richard Lewis.

Plate Final: Sunnybank 2  43 (T.Linde 2, T.Tela 2, C.Matahaere 1, J.Kerevi 1, A.Alifipo 1 tries, T.Tela 3 con) d Marist Samoa 17

Sunnybank number 1 team made their way to the Cup Final in an undefeated run but were unable to match the Breakers for speed or discipline as the Breakers made easy work of the culminating game after a long weekend of Rugby.

Sunnybank sustained serious injuries to back Moses Tuilorama (AC) and Ben Adams (dislocated knee) while Nathan Byrne received stitches to a bad cut above his eye.
