9 October 2010
An opportunity to celebrate Pacific Island culture and recognise the culture present within Sunnybank Rugby Club. Live entertainment, cultural performances and ethnic foods available on the day.
The people of the Pacific Island nations have a love for the game of Rugby. From an amateur base the major nations of Fiji, Samoa and Tonga compete on a global professional stage at the World Cup and the IRB World Seven’s Tournament.
Initially immigrants to Australia, the bloodlines are now entering second generations with many Pacific Island children now being Australian born citizens. The Wallabies, Reds & Sunnybank Clubs have a significant proportion of their playing base with a Pacific Island bloodline.
The purpose of the day is to recognise and promote the contribution that Pacific Island heritage makes to our Rugby community and to also provide an opportunity to promote their culture and values.
The day will be focused on the 3 largest represented cultures of Fiji, Samoa and Tonga.
When: Saturday 9th October 2010
Where: Sunnybank Rugby Fields
