Child Safeguarding & wellbeing
At Sunnybank Rugby, we are committed to providing a safe, inclusive and supportive environment for all children and young people involved in our club. We believe every child has the right to feel safe, respected, valued and heard, both on and off the field.
Sunnybank Rugby has zero tolerance for child abuse, bullying, harassment, neglect or exploitation in any form. The safety and wellbeing of children and young people is a shared responsibility across our entire rugby community, including players, coaches, volunteers, staff, parents and supporters.
We are committed to creating a culture where child safety is embedded into our leadership, governance and everyday operations. This includes:
Promoting a safe, positive and inclusive environment for all junior players and participants
Ensuring all coaches, staff and volunteers uphold appropriate standards of behaviour and complete relevant screening and training requirements
Encouraging children and young people to speak up, be heard and participate in decisions that affect them
Respecting diversity and supporting children of all backgrounds, abilities, cultures, genders and identities
Providing clear processes for reporting concerns, complaints or suspected harm
Maintaining safe physical and online environments across all club activities and communications
Continuously reviewing and improving our safeguarding practices and policies
Everyone involved with Sunnybank Rugby shares the responsibility of protecting children and young people from harm and acting in their best interests at all times.
Our Board and leadership team are committed to ensuring child safeguarding remains a priority across all areas of the club through ongoing education, accountability and continuous improvement.
