Mick Ramsay Academy 2026

The Mick Ramsay Academy takes a holistic approach to player development, ensuring that each player has the resources and guidance to excel. From developing technical skills on the field to building mental resilience, leadership, and community involvement off the field, the Academy provides a well-rounded experience designed to elevate your rugby journey within the season and beyond.

 

Through expert mentorship, specialised coaching, and exposure to Sunnybank’s senior and Premier Rugby programmes, the Mick Ramsay Academy provides players with a unique opportunity to establish a pathway to senior grades and elevate their game. Join our next intake and be part of an academy that focuses on both rugby excellence and personal growth.

We ensure each athlete receives a personalised experience, enabling them to thrive both on and off the field. Throughout the year, players will benefit from:

  • 6-week block, commencing February 2026

  • Fortnightly sessions in Term 2 & 3 to ensure continued learning and growth.

  • U12/U13  (no gym)

    • Wednesdays 4:30pm – 5:45pm

  • U14,U15,U16, U18 (gym included)

    • Mondays - 4:30pm – 5:45pm

What players get:

  • Academy delivered by – Josh ‘Wombat’ Bray & Foreground Performance at Sunnybank Rugby

  • Strength & Conditioning, Tactical, Technical and Physical Preparation & Athlete Development.

  • Rugby IQ and position specific knowledge & skills

  • Player reports at end of each Term

  • Access to the best club facilities in Queensland

  • Access to Sunnybank Rugby Coaches and contacts to progress you’re playing global gateways and DoR.

The Mick Ramsay Academy is a tribute to the late Mick Ramsay, a beloved husband, father, and respected coach who dedicated over 10 years to developing local rugby talent at Sunnybank. As a passionate advocate for our rugby community, Mick’s vision was clear: to create a pathway that empowers emerging players and nurtures home-grown talent.
