So... You Wanna Be Our Director of Rugby?

Well, we’ve got good news. Sunnybank Rugby Union Club is on the hunt for a game-changer, literally. As we head into a new chapter focused on growth, performance and long-term success we’re looking for a Director of Rugby to lead from the front. Not sure if it’s for you? Let’s break it down…

What’s this gig all about?

Big picture: you’ll oversee everything rugby at Sunnybank, from the littlest juniors to our Premier Grade teams. You’ll be the one shaping our rugby strategy, mentoring coaches, developing talent and making sure we’re not just playing the game... but raising the bar.

What kind of human are we looking for?

Someone who’s been around the rugby block. You’ll need leadership experience in a high-performance setting, a strategic brain and a down-to-earth attitude. If you’ve got experience with coach development, junior pathways or have worked in a club, academy or pro-environment… bonus points!

What does “nailing it” look like?

If you’re:

• Lifting standards across coaching and playing groups

• Helping junior’s thrive and senior’s shine

• Building a strong, connected rugby culture

• Getting results on the field AND off it…

• Then yeah, you’re probably nailing it.

Will I actually get support?

100%. This isn’t a “here’s the keys, good luck” kind of job. You’ll be supported by a committed Board, a switched-on General Manager and a club that genuinely wants you to succeed.

Who will I work with?

You’ll report to our General Manager of Rugby Operations and work closely with the club’s leadership team. Translation: you won’t be doing this solo. We’ve got your back every step of the way.

What are the facilities like?

Not to brag (ok, maybe just a little)… but we’ve got the best facilities in the comp. From high-performance gear to pristine pitches, we’ve got the tools to match your vision.

How much does it pay?

It’s a competitive salary package, aligned with national and international rugby markets. We’ll ask for your salary expectations during the process, just note, we won’t be disclosing the budget.

When does it start?

We’re targeting mid-to-late 2025 but we’re flexible if you’re the right fit.
