Sunnybank Senior Rugby Club is proud to announce the successful completion of a major security upgrade, thanks to funding from the Brisbane City Council’s Safer Suburbs Grant program.

In 2024, the Club was awarded $9,000 through the program to enhance CCTV coverage across the precinct, improving safety for members, visitors and the wider community. The Safer Suburbs Grant is part of Brisbane City Council’s commitment to building a safer and more liveable city, with a focus on reducing anti-social behaviour and deterring crime.

Expanded CCTV Coverage

With the grant support, Sunnybank Rugby installed upgraded the existing CCTV system to include:

  • 4 new pole-mounted cameras in the carpark

  • 12 additional cameras covering the playing fields, storage sheds, clubhouse and recently renovated areas

The project was completed in August 2025, and now provides extended security coverage across the entire Club.

A Safer Future for Members & the Community

The improved CCTV system gives Sunnybank Rugby the tools to ensure the safety and wellbeing of players, members, and visitors alike. By aligning with Brisbane City Council’s broader objectives, the Club is contributing to a safer environment for everyone who enjoys rugby and community life at Sunnybank.

Club representatives expressed their appreciation for the Council’s support, noting that the upgrade will not only deter anti-social behaviour but also give members peace of mind when visiting the Club.
