Biggs Field Floodlights Upgraded Thanks to Lord Mayor’s Better Suburbs Grant
We’re proud to share a major milestone for Sunnybank Junior Rugby Club with the successful upgrade of floodlights on Biggs Field 1.
Thanks to $100,000 in funding from Brisbane City Council’s Lord Mayor’s Better Suburbs Grants (Facilities category), our floodlights have been upgraded to LED, achieving a 245 LUX level — providing broadcast-quality lighting suitable for semi-professional competitions.

Sunnybank Junior Rugby Club has secured further support through Brisbane City Council’s Lord Mayor’s Community Fund, enabling the purchase of an additional marquee to better support community events, match days and club activities.

Announcing our new Director of Rugby
Sunnybank Rugby is proud to welcome Brad Harrington as our new Director of Rugby, following a global search led by Sideline Sports Recruitment. With high-performance experience from teams including Los Pumas, Leinster, Waratahs, Wallabies and Japan Rugby Union, Brad brings a proven track record in elite player and coach development. He will lead our next performance cycle, driving alignment and long-term success across all levels of the Club.
How a Timely Grant Helped Sunnybank Junior Rugby Stay Covered
Thanks to timely grant funding from the Brisbane City Council and Cllr Huang, Sunnybank Junior Rugby was able to purchase a much-needed heavy-duty marquee - just in time for Ex-Tropical Cyclone Alfred. The marquee has already proven its worth, sheltering players and volunteers through wild weather and even featuring on STAN Sport during our first home game.
