Sunnybank Rugby is delighted to announce the appointment of Brad Harrington as the Club’s new Director of Rugby, marking a bold step forward in our performance and development strategy.
After a global process led by Sideline Sports Recruitment—which attracted over 90 applicants across sporting codes, Harrington emerged as the standout candidate to lead Sunnybank into its next performance cycle.
With a wealth of experience from top-tier rugby environments including Los Pumas, Leinster, Waratahs, Wallabies, and Japan Rugby Union, Brad brings a high-performance mindset and proven track record of building elite rugby programs.
As Director of Rugby, Brad will drive long-term player and coaching development, build alignment across all levels of the Club, and develop sustainable frameworks for the future.
General Manager Stephanie Karvelis says:
“Brad’s appointment is a game-changer for Sunnybank; not just for our Premier men and womens’ squads, but for every player and coach in the Sunnybank family. The investment in this role by the Board reinforces our commitment to growing the game from the ground up.”
Brad joins us following his role as National Performance Coordinator with Unión Argentina de Rugby, where he led programs that helped Los Pumas finish 4th at the 2023 Rugby World Cup, defeat the British and Irish Lions recently in Dublin, and saw the U20s take bronze at the World Rugby U20 Championship in Italy.
On his appointment, Brad shared:
“I’m incredibly excited to join a proud club like Sunnybank. This is a chance to build something special —rooted in shared standards, player connection, and sustained success. I’m looking forward to getting started and working with everyone to drive the club forward.”
Senior President Adrian Watson praised the recruitment process:
“Sideline Sports Recruitment delivered an outstanding search. The professionalism and detail throughout were unmatched. We’re confident Brad is the right person to take us into 2026 and beyond.”
Harrington joins Sunnybank Rugby in August 2025.
